Abuzz a finalist in the 2005 Telstra Small Business Award

Abuzz has been selected as one of 24 finalists out of 4200 entrants for the 2005 Telstra Small Business Award. This award recognizes companies who create innovative solutions within Australia's small business sector and provides those companies with a platform to showcase their products and services to a wider audience.

Abuzz was founded in 1997 by Morgan Drew, an industrial design graduate who formerly worked as a furniture designer. At a trade show in 1996, Morgan designed an interactive kiosk to exhibit his portfolio of furniture. This unique method of presentation attracted the interest of companies including Australia Post, BMW, Telstra, Caroma and Laminex. Following the show he researched the industry and found a niche for well designed, attractive, and ergonomic touch screen kiosks.

"Existing companies had appalling designs with little consideration for the end-user. Most of these companies came from a technical or carpentry background and it was obvious that a fundamentally different approach would make Abuzz a leader in the market place." said
Morgan Drew, CEO of Abuzz Technologies. "One of Abuzz's unique characteristics is the
ability to deliver a complete solution. The disciplines of Abuzz range from industrial design, graphic/multimedia design, software development and production of the final product. Abuzz
has some huge opportunities both within Australia and worldwide that we intend to capitalize
on through our experience and position within the market."

Abuzz have developed a number of customised products including way finding touch screen kiosks for Westfield shopping centers, smartcard kiosks for HIC / Medicare branches and they are currently developing an automated check-in / check out solution for the Accor hotel chain.

Abuzz are recognized world wide as being innovators in kiosk design and enjoy acknowledgement for their work having won multiple Australian Design awards.

Morgan continues by saying "After 9 years of hard work we have found ourselves in a rapidly expanding market and we intend to take full advantage of our specialized skills and knowledge."
